In these courses the student will learn to understand and converse in Japanese. All levels must demonstrate a mastery of Hiraana, Katakana. The ability to read characters is essential for the IB test. Each semester all levels will be required to read a non-fiction or historical fiction novel in which the story takes place in Japan. All levels will be required to produce a 20 minute video project all in Japanese and will have four IB oral speeches during the school year. The class will be taught using Total Physical Response Story-telling. Students may earn college credit for successful scoring on the International Baccalaureate Examination.
